The film shows a typical Jewish history, one of many being shown in those years. Living in Kazimierz Dolny Rywinów family living under very difficult conditions, because the father decides to leave for the U.S. to find a better life. In America, works hard and feels alone, up until the Bessie (Bessy) - a nightclub singer who helps him bring the family from the Polish.

This film was the last pre-war Polish film shot in Yiddish. It was also announced the tragic fate of loved ones now, waiting for the Jews. Takes a popular theme linking the two worlds - Europe and America. Homelessness oppose America Old World. America is in the country, "bezbrodych" Jews and foiled dreams. Powracjącym motif sound became Kaddish sung in the synagogue, at times appearing to oppose Abram's life in New York, Bass Szewy plight and their son Enoch in Poland. Implemented only in the studio is probably the most claustrophobic movie - Polish Jews.
