16.02.2010 - The Jewish cemetery in Lublin will be open to visitors

A new foundation will be created in Lublin in the nearest future: its main objective is to take care of the city’s Jewish cemeteries. Among other plans, the foundation wants to enable visitors to enter the Jewish cemetery on Kalinowszczyzna Street, one of the most valuable Jewish cemeteries in Europe. On February 12th, 2010 a meeting will take place between the representatives of the local Jewish community and the mayor of the city of Lublin, Adam Wasilewski. Until now, the cemetery was ruined and it was practically impossible to visit it.
