In Koszyce there was the Jewish library under the auspices of Solomon James Abramovich[1.1]. The Collections were large and consisted of approximately 2,000 volumes in Yiddish, Hebrew and Polish. It was built thanks to the company educational-cultural society acting in the village. Their only source of income was the membership fees. This resulted in a continuous lack of money and a poor financial condition of such establishments. Another problem was the lack of Library Law, which released the state authorities of concern for the library’s maintenance. There was no one to give the money to maintain such facilities; most of the Jews were involved in traffic emigration to Palestine, this occupied most of their attention. Therefore, some libraries and cultural centers were closed down in 1938; the same happened to the library in Szczekociny, Koszyce and Działoszyce[1.2].
