Aleksandrowicz Julian

Julian Aleksandrowicz (1908-1988): GP, hematologist. From 1933 to 1939 he worked at the hospital of St. Lazarus in Krakow. He participated in the September Campaign in 1939. During the war he stayed in the Krakow ghetto, where he led the hospital. In 1943 he got to the so-called Aryan side. Since 1944 he was a doctor in the ward of partisan national army. After the war he worked in the Department of Internal Medicine at Jagiellonian University and later at the Medical Academy. Since 1952 he directed the Hematological Clinic of the Medical Academy. He founded the Polish Hematological Association. He introduced and popularized in Poland the ecological diagnosis, prevention and treatment of lymphatic leukemia, multiple sclerosis, etc. He is the author of many books, scientific and popular papers, as well as war memories Cards from the doctor Hard’s journal.

The term was created within the framework of the project Zapisywanie świata żydowskiego w Polsce [recording the Jewish environment in Poland], whose author is Anka Grupińska, a well-known Polish journalist and writer, specializing in the modern history of the Polish Jews. The project, initiated in 2006 by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, consists in recording interviews with Polish Jews from all generations.
