Second cultural center within the framework of the Galician Academy of the Past “Żak” has been opened in Tarnów commune. In Błonie, and particularly in the neighboring forest Buczyna, historical events concerning the Jewish extermination will be documented.

Center in Nowodworze was opened in the beginning of this summer. Its aim is to promote the cultural heritage of Galicia, among others, there will be classes showing realities of the past. Now, second center has been founded. A nearly destroyed “dom ludowy” (type of cultural center) was adapted. – Former village-mayor planned to pull it down, but I came to a conclusion that somebody built it so that the building could serve people. Demolishing it would be a destructive action, especially that we had a chance to receive external funding for its renovation – says Grzegorz Kozioł, the village-mayor of Tarnów. Rooms have been filled with IT equipment. Common room, in which lectures and meetings will be held, was inventively furnished. Similarly, space around the building was organized. The center in Błonie will document mainly historical events concerning the Jewish extermination. All accessible sources coming from the neighboring communes and provinces will be used. However, the documentation will be focused particularly on the Jewish martyrdom in the nearby forest Buczyna in Zbylitowska Góra.
