We will celebrate this year the 71st anniversary of the tragic events of September 1939, which stroke also Jews residing in Będzin. To commemorate those days, a new exhibition appeared in the Museum of Zagłebie, namely “Remembrance. Judaicas from Będzin” (“Pamięć. Judaika Będzińskie”). The exhibits, gathered in the Mieroszewskis’ Palace (Pałac Mieroszewskich) come from the private collections and also from the collections of the Museum of Zagłębie. Exhibits presented in the first part of the exhibition are connected with the everyday life of Jews, e.g. IDs, passports, money, different kinds of documents, bills of exchange, bills. The second one includes objects connected with the cult and Jewish religion, e.g. three Torahs, which come from the 19th/20th century and one of them could be saved from the burnt down in 1939 synagogue in Bedzin. There is also a Babilonian Talmud from the end of the 19th century.
