The “Grodzka Gate – NN theater” Center, in co-operation with the Panorama of Cultures Association and the Center of Youth Initiatives “Totem” kindly invite you to attend a seminar entitled “Working with difficult memory in local communities. Polish-Ukrainian exchange of experiences. It takes place in Lublin between 15th and 19th September, 2010.

The Polish-Ukrainian seminar is the next stage of a project which the “Grodzka Gate – NN theater” Center has realized since 2007. The project concentrates on the Righteous Among the Nations and other people giving their help to the oppressed during the Second World War. The subject is strictly connected with restoring the memory about the Holocaust as well as the complicated and traumatic history of Central and Eastern Europe. The “Grodzka Gate – NN theater” Center has cooperated with partners from Ukraine since September 2009. Many non-governmental organizations, teachers and students have undertaken numerous documentary, educational and animation actions, promoting the subject of “difficult memory” in their local communities. The seminar is a summary of one-year co-operation. It also gives the possibility of entering into personal relations. Moreover, the seminar broadens knowledge concerning Polish-Ukrainian historical perspective, discourse about the painful past and methods of working with “difficult memory”. Lublin is going to be visited by organizations from Berdyczow, Żytomierz, Kiev, Kherson , Donieck, Winnica and Turbowo. Several guests from Drohobycz, Lviv, Łuck and Minsk are also taking part in the event.

The program of the seminar is available here.
