Bajit Chadasz in Krakow

Encounter with Jewish Culture (Spotkania z Kulturą Żydowską) Bajit Chadasz, organized by Judaica Foundation – Center for Jewish Culture (Fundacja Judaica – Centrum Kultury Żydowskiej – CKŻ), commence now in Cracow. Bajit Chadasz has existed for 15 years. It always starts with Rosh-Hashana – the Jewish New Year. The expression Bajit Chadasz means in Hebrew a “New Home”. It is also a title of poem by Joel Sirkes’s (1561 – 1640), a rabbi from Cracow.

The program of this year’s Bajit Chadasz Encounters:

11/09, 10 a.m., the premises of CKŻ (17 Meiselsa Street): a postcards auction organized by Antykwariat Rara Avis (Rara Avis second-hand Bookshop),

12/09: New Year’s concert,

13/09, 6 p.m. : a meeting dedicated to Jan Karski and promotion of Stanisław M. Jankowski’s book “Karski – raporty tajnego emisariusza” (“Karski – secret emissary’s reports”),

15/09, 4 p.m., Wolnica Square: departure to Bronowice. In “Rydlówka” manor there will be a meeting with Maria Rydkowa and a first display of a film version of a play by Roman Brandstaetter “Ja jestem Żyd z Wesela” (“I am the Jew from <The Wedding>”),

16/09, 6 p.m., the premises of CKŻ (17 Meisela Street): a film evening dedicated to memories about Rafael F. Scharf, the initiator of CKŻ, and the promotion of his book “Co mnie i tobie Polsko” (“Form me and you, Poland”), published by Judaica Foundation.
