“Cwiszn”, a Jewish quarterly devoted to the literature and art, has just left the printing house. It will be found in Empik and press salons everywhere in Poland. We sincerely invite for a promotion meeting and a panel discussion “Do we need nowadays a newspaper devoted to the Yiddish culture?”, which will take place on 2nd of September at 19.00 in Mamele Club (Klub Mamele) at 12/16 Grzybowski Square (Plac Grzybowski) in Warsaw. Admission is free. Gołda Tencer, a publisher, Prof. Paweł Śpiewak and the editorial staff of the quarterly: Karolina Szymaniak, the chief editor, Katarzyna Kazimierowska , the secretary of the editorial staff, and Barbara Klicka, Agata Kondrat, Anna Szyba will take part in the meeting.

The quarterly “Cwiszn” has been created to popularize Yiddish culture and to join it to the modern Polish culture. Both the old and the modern Yiddish literature in the original and translated into Polish versions will be presented in the paper. The very first issue of “Cwiszn” will be devoted to Abraham Seckewer and Gilles Rozier. A reader will also find some articles on historical and social issues as well as an account from the 1968 Polish Political Crisis (also known as March 1968 or March Events) and the evaluation of Rafał Betlejewski’s activity.

You can find out more on the Cwiszn website.
