The atmosphere of pre-war Lublin will be restored once again on Friday night, during the time of reading “The Magician of Lublin” (“Sztukmistrz z Lublina”) written by Isaac B. Singer. This unusual cultural event organized in the framework of the Carnaval Sztuk-Mistrzów will take place in the courtyard of the National Archive (Archiwum Państwowe, entrance from Jezuicka Street) on 20th of August from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The admission is free.

Singer’s novel will be read by famous actors: Magdalena Warzecha, Krzysztof Wakuliński, Anna Gajewska, Mariusz Bonaszewski, Łukasz Lewandowski. Krzesimir Dębski will play the role of a violinist. His great music will be heard from the Trynitarska Tower (Wieża Trynitarska).

You may find the magician Yasha’s cart on the streets of Lublin. All inhabitants are allowed to put there the letters with complaints concerning everything that makes them angry of the city. During the “Night reading of the Magician of Lublin” (“Nocne czytanie Sztukmistrza z Lublina”) all the letters will be burnt so that all concerns disappear in a magical way.
