Singer Festiwal is to start soon!

 From the 28th of August to the 5th of September, a number of concerts, exhibitions and theatrical performances are to take place in Warsaw during the Singer Festival.

World-renowned cantors Jacova Lemmer, Benzion Miller and Jacob Motzen will perform during the opening concert of the festival. Moreover, Benzion Miller is to lead vocal workshops in Nozyki Synagogue. In honor of the festival, Jewish Theatre Festival will present "Fiddler on the Roof" and a performance of "Song of Songs" based on Shalom Aleichem’s poem. Meanwhile, in the foyer of the theater, one can see an exhibition of photographs by Mikołaj Grynberg and Harry Weinberg. Other interesting exhibitions will be presented on Próżna Street. Moreover, in cafes at Próżna, there will be meetings with writers: Bella Szwarcman-Czarnota, Andrzej Korybut-Daszkiewicz, Ryszard Marek Gronski etc. Traditionally, the tour around Jewish Warsaw will be led by Jan Jagielski and Jewish dance workshops will be held under the direction of Michal Piróg. Film fans will be able to view the latest documentaries in Iluzjon cinema.

The festival will begin with a tribute to the Righteous Among the Nations. In Mamele Club, pl. Grzybowski 12/16, on 28th of August at 13.00, there will be a meeting with members of the Polish Society of the Righteous: Jadwiga Gawrych, Alicja Schnepf and Jozef Walaszczyk, followed by a documentary movie about people who saved Jews from the Holocaust. At 17.00 one can meet Janina Zgrzembska, daughter of Irena Sendler. In addition, on 31st of August, there will be a concert in memory of Holocaust victims and the Righteous. The Sinfonia Varsovia will play under the baton of Krzysztof Penderecki.
