The synagogue in Ostrów Wielkopolski

The restoration of the historic synagogue is taking place in Ostrów Wielkopolski. The synagogue is considered as the most valuable monument of the sacral architecture of the city. It was built in the Moorish style between 1857-1860. After the Second World War it was used as a furniture store. Improper use of the building led to a distortion of its architecture. In 1988 the synagogue was entered on the list of heritage registers. From 2005 it belongs to the city. Currently it is being renovated. New windows has just been installed. Moreover, there are plans to repair the external walls, stairs and door joinery.
