The exhibition The Lights of Midrash

Ilustracja
The City Museum in Wrocław invites from 3 September for the unique exhibition of Mira Żelechower-Aleksiun "The Lights of Midrash. Painted comments to the Pentateuch".

"The Lights of Midrash" is a series of paintings, which are painted comments of the author to the weekly reading of the Moses' Pentateuch. This is the part of the Bible, which functions for Christians as The Old Testament. Jews still refer to the texts of Written and Spoken Torah, which coexist since centuries. Rabbi Samuel Rafael Hirsh explains it vividly by saying that The Written Torah is like a note from a lecture. If someone doesn't know the lecture, the note stays unclear. Both texts are complementary and belong to Jewish tradition.

THe exhibition will be opened from 3.09 to 3.10.2010
