People awarded the medal Righteous among the Nations

On Sunday in Bielsk-Biała there was a ceremony of awarding Michalina and Stanislaw Nawlokow and Julia Wala with the medals Righteous among the Nations.

The awards were taken by the relatives of these heroes. Teresa Lyson – a daughter of Mr and Mrs Nawlokow and Halina Macher – a granddaughter of Julia Wala. The awards were given by people who were saved by Nawlokows and Mrs Wala from the holocaust. Rozalia Wassner from Israel and Ruth Rosenfelt from USA. The Assistant Ambassador of Israel – Yahel Vilan- also took part in the ceremony.

Michaila and Stanislaw Nawlokow during German occupation with the risk of their own lives selflessly rescued from the holocaust a Jewish girl Rozalia Wassner.

Saved Rozalia Wassner, today living in Israel as Shoshana Ronen, recalls Nawlokows: "I am deeply moved. Today I want to say about my saviours and about how great was their heroism to give the child who wasn't their as much, as they gave to their own children. Each slice of bread they shared on three equal parts, even at the time of the huge starvation. I have 3 kids and I don't know if in similar situation I would give my child less to feed a stranger one. That was the greatest heroism", she said.
