Lviv Klez Fest

International Festival of Jewish Music, "LvivKlezFest 2010", is to take place in Lviv on 25th of July!

Klezmer music was played by Jewish musicians who were not able to read musical notes, but were uncovering the soul of Jewish people. They usually played in small Jewish shtetls. First and foremost it was the music of dance, joy and happiness which accompanied Jewish, Ukrainian, Gypsy, Moldavian, Romanian weddings... Nowadays Klezmer Festivals are very popular and have already become a tradition in different European cities: Krakow, London, Paris, Vienna, Berlin and others. Lviv does not lag behind.

"LvivKlezFest" is an attempt to revitalize the lost musical culture and to revive Jewish quarter, which was an integral part of the multicultural capital of Galicia. This festival will have a diverse and rich program, equally interesting for fans of rousing Klezmer music as well as for people who are interested in the history of Lviv and Jewish quarter or simply love the traditional Jewish cuisine. The bands from different countries: Poland, Germany, Israel, Russia, Ukraine are due to perform. Moreover, adults and children will have a unique opportunity to practice different Jewish crafts and the tourists will see how people enjoyed Galician Jewish weddings.
