The 5th Festival of Klezmer Music and Tradition is taking place in Kazimierz Dolny from 13th to 17th of July. Among the attractions are the performances of ‘Studnia O’ Group. It is an association of story tellers who link telling stories with education. The members of the association say that telling stories is an interesting way of becoming familiar with other cultures.

‘Studnia O’ performed in café in Kazimierz on 14th of July. The stories written by Nachman from Bratslav, Isaac B. Singer and Stanislaw Vincenz were told by Beata Frankowska and Małgorzata Litwinowicz . The audience listened to the tales about a prince turned into a turkey, an unusual trip from Chelm to… Chelm and a modest tailor who visited a king of Spain.

Moreover, this week Beata Frankowska is holding a workshop for children in a local school. Kids are learning how to tell the stories and how the voice, rhythm, gesture, imagination and memory are important. They are working on Jewish histories from Kazimierz and surroundings as well as Hassidic tales, short stories by Singer and Nachman from Bratslav, Hebrew and Yiddish songs.

Children are set to prepare the performance 'Dance of stories. Jews from Kazimierz'. It is going to be shown in synagogue on 17th of July at 18.00.
