The 5th Festival of Klezmer Music and Tradition is taking place in Kazimierz Dolny from 13th to 17th of July. The festival includes many workshops for children and adults. On 14th of July, the Education Centre of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Virtual Shtetl portal organized a street game, ‘Jewish footsteps in Kazimierz’ and an art class for children.

During the street game, the children became familiar with Jewish heritage in Kazimierz. They saw the synagogue, the former kosher slaughterhouse and some buildings which formerly belonged to famous Jews. Children learned main terms connected with Judaism, as well as Sabbath traditions and some curiosities about the local Jewish community. They decoded the name Kazimierz and solved a mathematical equation written in the Hebrew alphabet. In addition, they sang a song about a Jewish pharmacist. Afterwards, the children took part in an art workshop organized at the nearby Jewish cemetery. They drew symbols of candles, books and animals with which the matzevot were decorated. The meeting of Jewish art and culture was a truly enriching experience for the children.
