A screening of the movie ‘Survivors’ at the Singer’s Warsaw Festival

This Sunday, 25 August, Austriackie Forum Kultury (Austrian Forum for Culture) will show Joanna Król and Karolina Dzięciołowska’s film entitled ‘Ocaleni’ (Survivors). The film will be shown as part of Singer’s Warsaw Festival as one of the events organised for the film discussion club.

The main protagonists are Holocaust survivors, elder Polish Jews currently living in Poland and Israel. The film cannot be reduced to a story about the Survivors and Righteous Among the Nations. It deals with heroism which gave birth to ordinary life, a story which takes us from the dramatic time of the 20th century to contemporary Israel and Poland. The film was made under ‘The Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History’ project run by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

The show will be followed by a discussion with Joanna Król and the film’s protagonists Jadwiga Rytlowa and Janina Goldhar. The talk will be chaired by Ignacy Strączek.

Free admission.
