‘Chasidim – A Return’ – a photo exhibition

This exhibition will be displayed at Ośrodek Spotkania Kultur in Dąbrowa Tarnowska (Cultural Meeting Centre) until the end of August. The pictures are part of a larger exhibition comprising about ninety photographs that have already been displayed in the Regional Museum in Tarnów and other places. The exhibition was designed by father and son, Dariusz and Wojciech Kobylański, Tarnów citizens who had visited Leżajsk together.

The photographs were taken at the Yahrzeit of Tzaddik Elimelech in 2010. Both photographers spent twenty hours in Leżajsk, observing and recording the mysterious world of Chasidim. Freezing winter only added more charm to the ceremonies. Colours and light add suspense and amplify the mystery of the wintery night and dawn. The authors did not want to make a photo reportage. They desired to show another fairytale world which is born in Leżajsk every year.

Dariusz Kobylański, a publisher, photographer and computer graphic artist. He is the author and graphic editor of over one hundred and forty books about Tarnów and Małopolska. Kobylański is the deputy President of the Photo Association in Tarnów.

Wojciech Kobylański, a member of the Photo Association in Tarnów. He is interested in reportage and documentary photography. Wojciech cooperates with S-CAN publisher and Internet portals.
