Recently found cast-iron matzevos

During restoration works of the hospital in Żarki (Myszkowski district), cast-iron matzevos were unearthed. This kind of headstone is unique on a national scale.

The findings have been transported to the local cultural centre, the former synagogue. The headstones will be yet another historical vestige of the community in which Jews formed a majority of the broader population before the war. Shortly, the matzevos will be taken to the Jewish cemetery in Żarki.
