The 8th edition of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day

This Sunday, January 27th, at 1 pm, ceremonies marking the 8th edition of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day will commence at the Monument to Warsaw Ghetto Fighters in Warsaw. The ceremony enjoys the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.

The ceremony at the monument will be followed by an appeal of remembrance which takes place at 3 pm on Próżna Street. During the appeal, all attendees will be able to read the names of Holocaust victims, including their family members. From 12 noon to 6 pm, a historical tram labeled with the Star of David will run on Warsaw streets. This empty vehicle will symbolize the tram which ran in the Warsaw Ghetto, reminding Warsaw residents about former Jewish neighbours who perished in ghettos and death camps.

On this particular day, we encourage everyone to light a candle in their windows at 6 pm to commemorate all victims of the Holocaust.

The ceremonies have been co-organized by Stołeczna Estrada, Tramwaje Warszawskie. The ceremony has been media sponsored by Telewizja Polska S.A.
