A lecture on Jewish charity in Warsaw

The Prof. Moses Schorr Foundation has the pleasure of inviting you to Prof. Elżbieta Mazur’s lecture called ‘Dobroczynność społeczności żydowskiej wpisana w dzieje Warszawy’, which will be accompanied by a promotion of the catalogue of the ‘Gemilut Chasadim – Żydzi, dobroczynność, Warszawa’ exhibition.

‘Gemilut Chasadim – Żydzi, dobroczynność, Warszawa’ portrays the history of charity in prewar Warsaw and catalogues the exhibition which was displayed in the Fall of 2012 at Grzybowski Square in Warsaw. The main idea behind the catalogue and the exhibition is to show the history of charity of Jewish circles in relation to the history of Warsaw.

The exhibition was initiated by the Prof. Moses Schorr Foundation and has been made possible thanks to the expertise of its co-authors.

Prof. Elżbieta Mazur, Prof. Daniel Grinberg and Alicja Banna. Prof. Mazur heads the doctoral centre at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and works as an academic at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. Mazur has written many articles on the history of material culture and several books, including a monograph about the Warsaw housing association and charity in 19th-century Warsaw.

The lecture will be staged at the Schorr Foundation, 6 Twarda Street, Warsaw.
