Enroll for the BERESZIT Open University


JCC Warsaw together with the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw have the pleasure of inviting you to enroll for the Bereszit Open University. The classes will start on February 11th, 2013.

Bereszit comprises a programme on an academic level and is addressed to everyone, regardless of age and education, who desires to broaden their horizons regarding the themes related to Jewish culture and history.

The basic knowledge of Judaism and Jewish history and culture is a perfect starting point for looking at various themes included in the Bereszit curriculum more deeply. However, even if you do not know the basics, you are welcome to enroll and take part in the classes.

The Bereszit curriculum comprises a thematic chronologically ordered series of meetings, which make it possible to present many aspects of Jewish studies in a colourful and insightful way. The 2013 summer semester will deal with Jewish philosophy, mysticism, the influence of Judaism on other religions and much more.

The lectures are held by highly recognized Polish experts in Jewish culture and history, including Prof. Jan Doktór, Prof. Michał Galas, Prof. Stanisław Krajewski, Prof. Michał Czajkowski, dr Adam Lipszyc, dr Piotr Paziński, Prof. Ewa Geller, dr Gerardo Beltran and many others.

The semester lasts from February 11th to June 26th, 2013. The classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7 pm to 6 pm (lectures), and from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm (workshops) in the lecture hall of the Jewish Historical Institute in the Blue Tower Plaza (Błękitny Wieżowiec, pl. Bankowy 2).

JCC membership card holders, school children, students and seniors are entitled to a 25% discount on the basis of a valid card.
