Historic sukkah in Grodzisk

A group of activists from Grodzisk Mazowiecki have come across ha post-Jewish relic on Sienkiewicz St. during the preparations for the “Odchodzący stary Grodzisk” project. The wooden “dovecote”, a small annex hanging since the war on the inside wall of a tenement house had attracted attention of Robert Augustyniak. The first person to investigate the uncommon booth, Augustyniak was struck by it’s resemblance to a sukkah – a booth built to celebrate the festival of Sukkot. The activists heard that the “dovecote” is designated for demolition. They wrote a letter to the town’s mayor, who decided to suspend all works until an expertise is presented. They plan to turn to the Jewish Historical Institute for the opinion on the matter.
