The honored synagogue was built by Moritz Lande from 1857 to 1860. Over the course of the past years, the Synagogue Forum has served as a cultural center in this building, which houses a concert hall for ca. one hundred and fifty persons and balconies (matronea) serve as galleries. Theater performances and exhibitions are organized in the former synagogue, which is now owned by the Ostrów Cultural Center. The modernizing works were completed in 2011 thanks to EU subsidies. The synagogue is one of the most remarkable buildings of this kind in all of Europe. The synagogue was modeled on great synagogues in Prussia (Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Koln and Kassel), Budapest and Vienna, all of which are famous for their Mauritanian style, which derives some features from Biblical descriptions of Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem.

HIT is a local government economic competition. The prizes are awarded by the PunktS promotional agency in Piła. The competition has been organized in Wielkopolska region (since 1995), and in the Kujawsko-Pomorski (since 1999) and Lubuski (since 2003) Provinces under the patronage of the governors and marshals of the said provinces.
