The Women's Day in the Janusz Korczak year will be dedicated to Stefania Wilczyńska

The Prof. Moses Schorr Foundation has the pleasure of inviting you to a debate in memory of Stefania Wilczyńska, the woman to whom this year’s Women’s Day will be dedicated.

The meeting will take place on February 6th at 6 pm. The discussion will bring back the memory of Stefania Wilczyńska, her commitment to Janusz Korczak’s ideals, her great loyalty to him and her love for children. Wilczyńska was the author of numerous pedagogical concepts that were applied in the Orphans’ Home. During World War I, when Janusz Korczak was absent, she took care of the orphans. In May 1939, she returned from Palestine to endure imminent horrible times with Janusz Korczak and the orphans. She did not establish a family of her own but devoted her life to poor children, as was the case with Korczak. She was by his side from the time when the Orphans’ Home was set up till the tragic liquidation of the institution. She perished at Treblinka, together with Janusz Korczak and his “children”.
