This year, adherents of Tzadik Dawid Biderman, referred to as Lelower, will celebrate the 198th anniversary of his death. Some Jews reached Lelowa as early as Thursday of January 26th and, as tradition says, postponed some ceremonies for the upcoming Shabbat. The Shabbat closing ceremony was opened by a common prayer and traditional Jewish meals. At about 9.30 pm, they started to dance and sing.

Tzadik Dawid Biderman is one of the most recognized figures in Jewish Chasidism. Chasidim believe that they had a gift of prophecy and miraculous healing. Various accounts say that the Lelower was lame but, while dancing, he regained the use of his leg. He was also to have the capacity to heal others. Tzadik Dawid Biderman rests in the Jewish cemetery. Chasidim insert little sheets of paper with intentions into a metal case placed next to the Tzadik’s grave and ohel.
