The exhibition ‘Nazi Ghettoes’ opens in Rome

The exhibition called ‘Nazi Ghettoes’ has been opened in Rome to mark today’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The photographs, films and documents portray the history of Polish ghettoes at the time of the Nazi occupation. The exhibition will run till March 4th.

The exhibition has been mounted under the patronage of the President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano, the Union of Jewish Communities and Italian ministers and offices attending the International Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremonies. The exhibition in the Vittoriano exhibition complex, located next to the Altar of the Fatherland at the Venice Square, documents everyday life in ghettos, persecution and extermination of Jews and their resistance movement.

This exhibition showcases artifacts and documents hired from the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, the Ghetto Fighters’ House in Galilee, the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem and the Berlin archives.
