All costs of the investment are paid from the budget of the province. Last year, the location of the museum was finally adopted, which resulted in the Markowa municipality transferring a plot of land for this purpose. In 2012, design works are planned to be completed, a construction permit is to be issued, a bidding procedure will be carried out and the construction works will finally start. The museum was designed by the Nizio Design International studio, which was the winner of the invitation of tenders for the architectural concept of the institution. The building is in the shape of a long rectangle and is topped with a triangular sharp-edged roof. The model of the building makes the impression that it is sinking down into the ground. In front of the building there is a spacious piece of land.

The Museum is being erected in Markowa, where early in the morning on March 24th, 1944, German military police officers killed eight Jews from the Szall and Goldman families and Józef Ulm, who was hiding the Jews. Józef’s wife, who was eight months pregnant at that time, was also slaughtered. The Germans also killed six children of the Ulms. The Israeli Memorial Institute Yad Vashem awarded the Ulms the title of the Righteous Among the Nations. In 2004, a monument commemorating these historical events was unveiled.
