The State Higher School of Technology and Economics in Jarosław to co-organize the International Holocaust Remembrance Day celebrations

For the first time, the Bronislaw Markiewicz State Higher School of Technology and Economics in Jarosław has become one of the co-organizers of the International Holocasut Remembrance Day ceremonies, which will take place on January 27th.

The program of the ceremonies includes a religious ceremony at the St Nicholas and Bishop Mikołaj Church in Jarosław. Prayers will be held for the Poles from the Podkarpackie region who were murdered in retaliation for their help for Jews and the Jews who were killed there. Addtionally, the list of identified victims will be read out at 9 am. A religious service will be followed by a ceremony commemorating Holocaust victims murdered at the wall of the Jarosław abbey, which will take place at about 9.40 am. Last but not least, a meeting with rescuers and the rescued who will give an account of the historical events will also take place. This part of the celebrations, which will highlight the ceremonies, is scheduled for 10 am. Lucia Retman from Haifa in Israel and Dawida Ryll from Poland will take part in this meeting.

The next part of the ceremonies will be organized at the State Higher School of Technology and Economics (PWSTE) in Jarosław, where Elzbieta Raczy, PhD, will deliver a lecture called ‘Stosunki polsko-żydowskie na Podkarpaciu w okresie II wojny światowej’ (Eng. Polish – Jewish relations in the Podkarpackie region during World War II). The lecture will start at noon and will be followed by the opening of Piotr Sobota’s ‘Chasydzi – powrót do korzen’ exhibition (Eng. Chasidim – the return to the roots), which will take place in the PWSTE library hall at 12.45 pm.
