The Second Christian-Jewish Meetings called TIKKUN- A MENDING

From January 15th to February 12th, Kielce will stage the second TIKKUN – NAPRAWA Christian-Jewish Meetings, which are organized by the Jan Karski Association. The project aims to promote and popularize respect for otherness, to counteract all manifestations of anti-Semitism, xenophobia and other stances that infringe on human dignity.

All participants will be offered a great number of interesting meetings, lectures, movie shows, concerts and educational workshops for children. On January 15th, at 5 pm, the world premier of Jerzy Maksymiuk’s opus dedicated to Kielce Jews will take place at the State Musical School. The musicians from the Swietokrzyska Philharmonic and the soloist Anna Karasinska (soprano) will perform, directed by the composer himself. The concert will be preceded by the presentation of the Hana Goldszaj and Dawidek Rubinowicz Prize. On January 16th, at the Kielce Cultural Center, the renowned philosopher and theologian Prof. Tadeusz Gadacz will deliver a lecture called ‘Kryzys człowieczeństwa europejskiego’ (Eng. The crisis of European humanity) in the memory of Prof. Jan Karski. On January 17th, a conference under the banner of ‘Nasz Papież. Jan Paweł II i Żydzi’ (Eng. Our Pope John Paul II and the Jews), in which Prof. Stanislaw Krajewski and Janusz Poniewierski are to participate, will be held to mark the Day of Judaism in the Catholic Church in Poland. On January 18th, Monika Krajewska, an artist and author of articles and photo albums, will explain the symbolical meaning of images carved in matzevot in the Jewish cemetery in Pakosz. On January 25th, a meeting with the Rabbi Sacha Pecaric will take place to discuss Tikkun, the idea of mending the world in Judaism. Sacha Pecaric, PhD, rabbi, philosopher and lecturer, headed the works of the first postwar Torah Polish translation done by Jewish translators. He has edited and commented Talmud Babiloński and Modlitewnik Żydowski and other books. In 2011, he launched the Pardes Internet Yeshiva.
