The first edition of the festival was staged in January 2011. This undertaking attracted the interest of WSFH students and also students of other Torun higher education institutions, junior and senior high schools. Also ordinary Torun residents received the event very warmly. Due to its educative and artistic values and its significance for society, the Jewish Week became a regular event.

The Jewish Week in Torun will begin with a lecture on the core significance of an interreligious dialogue. On the following day, the official opening will take place. The Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich will arrive in Torun on this day. During his opening lecture, the Rabbi will talk about his experiences related to the teachings of John Paul II. The program includes workshops for children and adults, which will be conducted by the Krakow artist Marta Golab, who specializes in traditional Jewish paper cutout. Additionally, a film review will take place, as part of which the movies "Radegast" by Borys Lankosza and "Szczęśliwi Żydzi" by Jonathana Rozenbauma and many more will be screened. The Hebraists Prof. PIotr Muchowski, a WSFH lecturer and a lecturer at the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, as well as Maciej Tormal, PhD, a scholar associated with Torun University, Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw, will elaborate on the meaning of a Hebrew inscription on the coronation sword of Polish kings. Furthermore, an exhibition and a performance devoted to Bruno Schulz, a Polish prose writer, painter and a literary critic of Jewish origin, also will be staged. The program includes concerts and the tasting of traditional Jewish meals, which will be prepared by the ‘Kwiat Podgorza’ university restaurant.
