In 1817 an industrial village called Aleksandrów was founded. Jews settled here from the very beginning. In 1822 Aleksandrów received town rights and a Jewish community was formed at the same time. In 1826 a wooden synagogue was built. In that same year, it is recorded that there were 686 Jews living in the town.

In 1833 a famous Jewish industrialist Izrael Poznański (the son of Kalman and Małka) was born here.

In 1866 the famous tzadik Chanoch Henich ha-Kohen Lewin, the student of Simcha Bunem from Przysucha and Menachem Mendel from Kock, settled here. Aleksandrów became an important center of the Hasidic movement.

In 1879 there were 1,673 Jews living in Aleksandrów which constituted 28% of the town’s population. In 1909 a stone synagogue was built on the intersection of Warszawska and Piotrkowska St. There were 3,061 Jews living in Aleksandrów at the time (30% of the general population).

During World War II, in September 1939, Aleksandrów was invaded by the German forces. In the first few days of the invasion 26 Jews were executed and the synagogue was burnt down. In December of that same year, all the Jews were deported to the General Government.

At the end of the 18th century an influx of German settlers came to the area. In 1817 a industrial village called Aleksandrów was founded. In 1822 Aleksandrów received town rights.

During the January Uprising in 1864 the town was taken by Polish insurgents.
In 1869 the Tzar revoked Aleksandrów’s town rights.

During the First World War between 1914 and 1915 Aleksandrów was attacked and taken over by the German forces.

In the interwar period in 1924 Aleksandrów regained its town rights.

During World War II, in September 1939, Aleksandrów was invaded by the German forces. In November 1939 Aleksandrów was declared a part of Germany. In January 1945 Aleksandrów was freed by the Soviet forces.
