Opieką nad ubogimi chorymi w Wadowicach zajmowało się Stowarzyszenie Bikur Cholim, opłacające koszty leczenia i leków. Było to istotne, ponieważ aż do 1916 r. w Wadowicach nie było lekarza żydowskiego i musiano leczyć się u chrześcijan albo jeździć do Krakowa.
