W 1766 roku liczba mieszkańców pochodzenia żydowskiego w mieście i okolicach wynosiła 1154 osób. W XIX wieku ludność miasta szybko wzrastała: w 1797 roku mieszkało tam 1360 Żydów i karaimów, to w 1847 roku – już 5700, a 1897 roku – 11 515 (stanowili wówczas 72,5% mieszkańców miasta.). Liczba mieszkańców w 1921 roku wynosiła 6917 Żydów, a w 1931 roku – 8650. W 1946 roku w Słonimie mieszkało około 30 Żydów, a w 1989 roku – 95Elektroniczna Encyklopedia Żydowska.
