First Day of the Four Cultures Festival in Łódź, 14.09.2009

Yesterday was the first day of an interdisciplinary festival “Łódź of Four Cultures” which started with the opening of Jacek Waltoś’s exhibition, “Ludzie Czechowa” (“Chekhov’s People”). The opening of the exhibition was also the official opening of the festival at 5 p.m. in Miejska Galeria Sztuki/City Art Gallery (Galeria Willa), in ul. Wólczańska 31 (31 Wólczańska Street).

The same day, two other events were held as well: a Kwartet Śląski’s (Silesian Quartet) concert (Laks, Mendelsohn, Padlewski) and the premiere of the CD “Poland Abroad” (published by EDA Records), as well as a performance of the Teatr im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej (Helena Modrzejewska Theater) from Legnica, produced by Lech Raczek and entitled “Czas terroru” (“Time of Terror”) based on “Róża” (“Rose”) by Stefan Żeromski. The Silesian Quartet’s concert took place in the Museum of the City of Łódź (Sala Lustrzana Pałacu Poznańskich/ The Mirror Room in the Poznański Palace), 15 Ogrodowa Street, 6.30 p.m., and the Legnica theater’s performance in the Łódzkie Centrum Filmowe (Film Center of Łódź), the photography hall, ul. Łąkowa 29, 9 p.m.
