Kowel – miasto w obwodzie wołyńskim, stolica rejonu kowelskiego. Położony 70 km na zachód od stolicy obwodu – miasta Łuck i 65km od trasy Jagodin-Dorohusk nad rzeką Turią.
Znany od 1310r. Ludność: 68 tys. (2009). Znaczący węzeł kolejowy lwowskiej linii kolejowej – w mieście zbiega się sześć torów kolejowych, łączących z wieloma krajami europejskimi.
Przez Kowel przechodzą drogi o znaczeniu europejskim: E373, E85.
