Berdyczów lies on the route between Warsaw and Kiev. It is the regional city of the Żytomirski (Zhytomyr) Province, 44 kilometres southof Żytomierz, on the Hniłopiat River.
Its sister-cities in Poland are Jawor and Siedlce.
