Stara synagoga w Andrychowie (ul. Legionów 15) została wzniesiona jako obiekt drewniany w XVIII w. Była to bożnica ortodoksyjna.
W latach 80. XIX w. bardzo pogorszył się stan techniczny budynku. Dlatego gmina podjęła decyzję o budowie nowej synagogi. Starą drewnianą bożnicą rozebrano, a na jej miejscu wzniesiono nową murowaną synagogę. Jej otwarcie nastąpiło w 1885 r[1.1].
